Sharon Raysor is a retired Supervisor for the New York Transit Authority.  Sharon became actively involved in case law concerning mandatory minimums when her son and grandson were incarcerated.  She has a desire to educate our youth and their families about incarceration. Sharon is a member of FAMM organization, Family Against Mandatory Minimum drug sentencing.  She lobbied at the White House speaking out against the unfair Mandatory Minimum Drug Laws and requesting leniency for inmates with terminal illnesses.  Sharon's passion is to help formerly incarcerated youth by helping them integrate back into society and educate and support their families during the process.

 

Nicole London graduated from Baruch College. She is a Business Manger professional within the financial services industry. She has mentored high school students and young adults in college readiness plans and career development. Ms. London has spent over 15 years volunteering with Restoration Corporation in community development and the performing arts for the Youth Arts Academy. Nicole’s passion and dedication to the mentoring and advocacy of disadvantaged youth is what drives her to be a member of the Life Beyond Bars (LBB) organization. Through education, mentorship, and life skills training, Ms. London’s contribution will help open the door to economic sustainability and personal transformation for at risk youth, changing the trajectory of their lives.

Edna Thompson
Secretary

Edna Thompson is a graduate of State University of New York College of Old Westbury with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.   Edna worked with many private and nonprofit organizations aimed to assist families in need of assistance.  Edna is most proud of her 30 plus years of service with New York City Social Services. She was instrumental in helping families, individuals and groups at different stages in their life. In fact, she was a mentor, advocate and educator.  She developed plans to help improve the dynamics of families’ lives. Edna’s compassion for the families she worked with led her to research and refer clients to local resources in their communities. Edna’s knowledge and innovative techniques make her an asset to Life Beyond Bars. Inc.
